In June 1881, Anthon van Rappard came to visit Vincent in Etten. They had met in Brussels and had become friends. In Etten, they ventured out together to draw, for instance on the heathlands near the village of Bosschenhoofd, which Vincent – like most people in the area – called Seppe.
