Van Gogh in

Trinitatis chapel

  1. 21 Jan. 1877 1877

Every Sunday, Vincent attended services at several different churches. On 21 January 1877, he went to the Trinitatis chapel, the church of the Evangelical Lutheran community, where Johannes Wilhelmus Beversen (1834–1897) was minister. He wrote to his brother Theo:

“This morning I went to hear the Rev. Beversen in a small old church, it was the Lord’s Supper and his text was ‘If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.’” Read the complete letter
