The building still exists, but the Museum Fodor was discontinued in 1993. The collection was preserved and is now housed in the Amsterdam Museum (Kalverstraat 92). The old Museum Fodor building on Keizersgracht now houses the Foam photography museum.

In 1885 Vincent travelled to Amsterdam with his friend Anton Kerssemakers to visit the newly opened Rijksmuseum, and while there he also went to the Museum Fodor. he museum housed the collection of the coal dealer Carel Joseph Fodor (1801–1860). Vincent wrote to his brother Theo:
“Decamp’s shepherd really is a masterpiece — do you remember the Meissonier — a sketch — of a deathbed? The Diaz? Well, I always like to see Bosboom, Waldorp, Nuijen, Rochussen, the original fellows of that period 40 years back.” Read the complete letter
In another letter, he wrote about Narcisse Virgile Diaz de la Peña’s painting a Nymph with Cupidos, which he also saw in the museum:
“The Diaz in the Fodor is only sketchy, but perhaps precisely because of this it was a real joy for me, who hadn’t seen one in years, to see one again, and it stood up very well, even when one had just seen the way the old masters went about it.” Read the complete letter
